Troubleshooting

"The device has been lost"

• verify USB cable and radio power stability
• check for competing processes on the same serial port
• close/reopen port in Squawk FM
• physically reconnect cable and reselect port

"Failed to open serial port"

• another process may own the port
• ensure browser tab has permission and no duplicate open attempt is active

Probe timeout or protocol mismatch

• confirm correct radio model and cable wiring
• rerun Detect Radio
• verify emulator scenario is happy when using local emulator

Linux permissions

• user should be in serial access group (often dialout)
• relogin after group changes
